About this centre

KUMON CONNECT available

The Kumon Windhoek Eros Study Centre opened in 1998 and offers the Kumon Mathematics and English programmes, which are for all ages and abilities. The students come from all around Windhoek. Currently, the students’ ages range from three to twenty three.

At the centre there are separate areas for pre-school learners, Mathematics students, and English students. The well-trained team is friendly and approachable, and the employees are always willing and available to aid students’ development. New students very quickly become familiar with the centre's routine. Importantly, no achievement goes unnoticed because giving positive feedback and motivation on a daily bases is invaluable. Reading is encouraged by allowing learners to enjoy the reading corner. The centre has ample parking and a secure waiting area for parents.

As all the centre hours are made use of to focus on the students, the time for parent-Instructor communication is weekday mornings or via emails at any time.

About the Instructor

Every child thinks about what they would like to do when they grow up, and every child changes their mind about a hundred times.

After working in the childcare profession for over five years teaching preschoolers, I was presented with an opportunity to work at a local primary School. This was a life-changing opportunity for me. This is when I realized that we have an abundance of teachers that teach because it is their job, not their passion. I wanted it to be my passion. I wanted to teach and guide, and most of all I wanted to make a difference. I knew I wanted to help children to reach their dreams and guide them to their full potential.

I come into contact with Kumon 15 years ago. What attracted me to the Kumon Programme in the first place was the idea of every child working at their own level of competence, at their own pace, and making their own progress irrespective of the grade they are in. My oldest son was battling with Mathematics at school; he had dyslexia and was having trouble learning to count and doing word problems. He also had difficulty in recognizing numbers. This is when I heard about Kumon. Understanding my son’s troubles with Mathematics was the best way to get support for him. The more I knew, the better able I was to help him build his Mathematics skills. Kumon helped boost his confidence. What I found great about Kumon was that it was not just for students with problems; my other two children also joined and I witnessed firsthand how much Kumon can enhance not only a young students academic abilities, but also his/her organization and time management skills.

I believe that teaching has always been my calling because it requires a great deal of patience. After teaching for 18 years, I have decided to pursue my passion for Kumon and my desire to contribute to the community.

I will serve as a mentor who will guide your children through their work while also providing direction, support and encouragement. I have a true passion for education and a desire to help children succeed.

Popular Questions

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than extra lessons and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
